CALIFORNIA TEACHERS ASSOCIATION ENDORSES SWALWELL FOR GOVERNOR

Endorsement delivers major boost, consolidating support from the labor movement for Swalwell following the backing of SEIU, California Professional Firefighters, California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO, United Food & Commercial Workers Western States Council and more.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Swalwell for Governor announced the California Teachers Association has endorsed his campaign.

Statement on behalf of Congressman Swalwell:

“Teachers aren't just employees. They're the backbone of our community. They're the co-authors of our children’s lives.

I couldn’t be more honored to have earned the endorsement of the 310,000 members of the California Teachers Association.

We can no longer live in a society where a CEO’s time is worth fifty thousand dollars an hour, but the person who taught that CEO how to read is worth barely enough to survive.

As the product of public schools, I know we don't just owe our teachers a raise — we owe them everything.

And as Governor, I will always fight for our teachers, the way my teachers always fought for me.”

Statement on behalf of CTA President David Goldberg:

“Our union is proud to have a rigorous and healthy democratic process where all present democratically elected representatives of the California Teachers Association State Council of Education, representing educators throughout the state, voted this weekend to recommend democratic candidate Eric Swalwell in California’s 2026 Gubernatorial primary.

During debate, delegates referenced Swalwell’s commitment to working people, including most recently joining striking educators on the line in Dublin and San Francisco. Californians deserve a Governor who will walk the line alongside union educators when they are on strike for the schools our students and communities deserve. As a union of 310,000 educators, we have the power to ensure that our students and communities have a Governor who is committed to both protecting and fully funding public education, and other essential pillars in our society.”

NEW POLLS CONFIRM SWALWELL IS THE LEADING DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR

Recent Polling Underscores Urgency of Coalescing Around Eric Swalwell To Prevent Trump Takeover of California

LOS ANGELES, CA — New public polls confirm that Congressman Eric Swalwell is the Democratic frontrunner ahead of the June 2 primary. Swalwell’s message of driving down costs and fighting Donald Trump continues to grow his support among likely voters.

“These new polls confirm that Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only thing standing in the way between two MAGA Republicans advancing in the June 2 primary,” said Micah Beasley, a campaign spokesperson. “It’s time for leaders to come together to coalesce around the candidate who has consistently led in support, public polls and primary donations since entering this race. A Trump Takeover in California will lead to higher costs, more ICE agents terrorizing our neighbors and an unprecedented assault on the right to vote. We cannot allow that to happen.”
