Los Angeles County Assemblymember Announces Support for Swalwell
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Swalwell for Governor announced Assemblymember John Harabedian (AD-41) has endorsed his campaign. Harabedian’s district encompasses most of the San Gabriel Mountains and various foothill communities. The district is anchored by Pasadena.
“Like Congressman Eric Swalwell, I’m a dad of three kids. I know what it means to worry about your family’s future and to want them to grow up safe, stable, and with real opportunity,” Assemblymember John Harabedian said. “Eric brings that same sense of responsibility to every issue — from holding bad actors like Donald Trump accountable to fighting for families squeezed by the cost of living and housing crises. Harabedian was elected in 2024 to represent the 41st Assembly District. He currently serves as Chair of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, Co-Chair of the Select Committee on Housing Finance and Affordability, and as a member of the Insurance, Judiciary, Transportation, Utilities and Energy and Public Safety committees in the State Assembly.
Harabedian was born and raised in Sierra Madre, in the heart of the 41st State Assembly District. He began his public service on the Sierra Madre City Council in 2012, was re-elected in 2016, and twice served as Mayor.

A March 2026 poll from the highly respected firm, Emerson College Polling, showed that Swalwell is the frontrunner in the race for governor. He continues to gain support from likely voters in the June 2 primary and leads all Democratic candidates in poll after poll.

Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.
Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.
ABOUT ERIC SWALWELL
Eric Swalwell was raised in Dublin, California, by a police officer father and a small business owner mother. The oldest of four sons, he worked paper routes and construction jobs before earning a Division I soccer scholarship and becoming the first in his family to attend college. After serving as an Alameda County prosecutor — where he led the Hate Crimes Unit — Swalwell was elected to the Dublin City Council, then to Congress in 2012. In the House, he has served on the House Intelligence Committee and currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, and is the Ranking Member on both the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection and the Judiciary Select Subcommittee on January 6. He and his wife, Brittany, are raising their three young children under the age of 9.
