ASSEMBLYMEMBER REBECCA BAUER-KAHAN ENDORSES SWALWELL FOR GOVERNOR

East Bay Assemblymember Endorses Swalwell on First Day of CADEM 2026 Convention

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Today, the Swalwell for Governor campaign announced East Bay Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (AD-16) has endorsed his campaign. Bauer-Kahan’s district includes the cities of Alamo, Danville, Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Walnut Creek.

“I'm proud to endorse Eric Swalwell because I know he will be a fearless advocate for California families,” said Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan. “We are united in our commitment to strengthen mental health support, protect women's health and build communities rooted in opportunity for all. I'm confident that Eric will work every day to advance progress across our state as the next governor.”

Bauer-Kahan was first elected to represent Assembly District 16 in the California State Assembly in 2018. She is an accomplished attorney, environmental advocate, community volunteer, law professor and mother. A Bay Area native, she is the granddaughter of refugees who came to the United States to escape the Holocaust. Their experiences inspired her to use her career and personal time to help others in her community, solve complex problems, protect civil rights and fight to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed. She is Chair of the Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection and founder and Chair of the Select Committee on Reproductive Health.

ABOUT CA GOVERNOR’S RACE

A February 2026 poll from the highly regarded polling firm EMC Research showed that Swalwell is the Democratic frontrunner for Governor. He continues to gain support from likely voters in the June 2 primary and leads all Democratic candidates.

Swalwell continues to gain support from elected officials, including U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) serves as the Campaign Chair, and Reps. Nanette Barragan, Adam Gray, Doris Matsui, Kevin Mullin, Jimmy Panetta, Dr. Raul Ruiz and Mike Thompson, have endorsed Swalwell — in addition to local elected officials across the state.

Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.

Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat and a wide open race. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.

ABOUT ERIC SWALWELL

Eric Swalwell was raised in Dublin, California, by a police officer father and a small business owner mother. The oldest of four sons, he worked paper routes and construction jobs before earning a Division I soccer scholarship and becoming the first in his family to attend college. After serving as an Alameda County prosecutor — where he led the Hate Crimes Unit — Swalwell was elected to the Dublin City Council, then to Congress in 2012. In the House, he has served on the House Intelligence Committee and currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, and is the Ranking Member on both the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection and the Judiciary Select Subcommittee on January 6. He and his wife, Brittany, are raising their three young children under the age of 9.
