Key Inland Empire Legislator and Trailblazer Backs Swalwell, Says He Will Prioritize Housing Affordability and Working Families
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Swalwell for Governor announced Assemblymember Dr. Corey A. Jackson (AD-60) has endorsed his campaign. Jackson’s district spans communities across Riverside County, including Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris and the unincorporated community of Mead Valley.
“I’m proud to endorse Eric Swalwell for Governor because he understands that tackling our housing crisis is central to keeping the California Dream attainable for more families," said Assemblymember Dr. Corey A. Jackson. "As someone who has spent my career fighting to break cycles of poverty, I know that stable, affordable housing is the foundation for success. Congressman Swalwell shares that urgency — and the commitment to invest in working families. As Governor, he can help us build a future focused on delivering an affordable California where the next generation can thrive and dream big.”
Assemblymember Corey A. Jackson was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022. He is the first openly LGBTQ Black member of the Legislature and the first Black representative of Riverside County in the Assembly. He serves as a member of the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus and chairs Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services.
Assemblymember Jackson has held key leadership roles, including Chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee and Chair of the Select Committee on California’s Mental Health Crisis. His legislative work focuses on housing affordability, mental health, juvenile justice reform and expanding economic opportunity for working families.
Prior to his election, Jackson founded SBX Youth and Family Services and served on the Riverside County Board of Education, advancing support and access for underserved communities.
