U.S. SENATOR ADAM SCHIFF ENDORSES SWALWELL FOR GOVERNOR

Schiff backs Swalwell’s campaign, praising his fight for working families and California’s future

LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, the Swalwell for Governor campaign announced U.S. Senator Adam Schiff has endorsed his campaign. Schiff was elected to the U.S. Senate by Californians by more than 17 points in November 2024. Prior to his election to the Senate, he served 12 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Eric Swalwell has the vision and strength to take on our state’s biggest challenges and make real progress, from lowering costs for families to protecting our democracy from Donald Trump,” said U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. “Congressman Swalwell and I worked together to investigate Trump during his first presidency, and Eric played a leadership role in the impeachment trial after the President incited a violent mob to attack the capitol on January 6th. What I saw then, and what I know now, is that Eric is fully prepared to get things done and deliver for the Golden State, even as he will fight to protect our values, rights and freedoms.”

ABOUT U.S. SENATOR ADAM SCHIFF

U.S. Senator Adam Schiff was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2024, after two decades of service in the House of Representatives. He led the first House impeachment inquiry and served as the lead Manager for the first impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump, securing the first bipartisan vote ever to impeach a sitting president. As Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and member of the January 6th Committee, Adam was on the front lines of the struggle to preserve our democracy, uphold the rule of law and hold insurrectionists accountable. Born in Massachusetts, Schiff moved to the Bay Area as a child, later graduating from Stanford University and Harvard Law School. Later, he settled in the Los Angeles area, where he met his wife Eve, and served as a federal prosecutor as well as in the California State Senate.

ABOUT CA GOVERNOR’S RACE

A February 2026 poll from the highly regarded polling firm EMC Research showed that Swalwell is the Democratic frontrunner for Governor. He continues to gain support from likely voters in the June 2 primary and leads Congresswoman Katie Porter and the other Democratic candidates.

Swalwell has coalesced early support from his colleagues. U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) serves as the Campaign Chair, and Reps. Nanette Barragan, Adam Gray, Doris Matsui, Kevin Mullin, Jimmy Panetta, Dr. Raul Ruiz and Mike Thompson, have endorsed Swalwell — in addition to local elected officials across the state.

Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.

Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat and a wide open race. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.

ABOUT ERIC SWALWELL

Eric Swalwell was raised in Dublin, California, by a police officer father and a small business owner mother. The oldest of four sons, he worked paper routes and construction jobs before earning a Division I soccer scholarship and becoming the first in his family to attend college. After serving as an Alameda County prosecutor — where he led the Hate Crimes Unit — Swalwell was elected to the Dublin City Council, then to Congress in 2012. In the House, he has served on the House Intelligence Committee and currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, and is the Ranking Member on both the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection and the Judiciary Select Subcommittee on January 6. He and his wife, Brittany, are raising their three young children under the age of 9.
