ASSEMBLYMEMBER NICK SCHULTZ ENDORSES SWALWELL FOR GOVERNOR
Los Angeles County Assemblymember Backs Swalwell; Says California’s Working Families Can Trust Him to Fight for Them
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, the Swalwell for Governor campaign announced Los Angeles County Assemblymember Nick Schultz (AD-44) has endorsed his campaign. Schultz’s district includes the cities of Burbank and Glendale, as well as the communities of La Crescenta, Sunland Tujunga, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake and Valley Village.
“I’m proud to endorse Eric Swalwell in his campaign to drive down costs for Californians and to protect our most vulnerable communities,” said Assemblymember Nick Schultz. “Growing up, I watched my mother work tirelessly, sometimes juggling multiple jobs, to keep the lights on and put food on the table. Eric watched his mother do the same. So when Eric says he understands the challenges facing California's working families, you can believe him — and you can trust he’ll spend every day fighting for us as our next governor.”
Assemblymember Schultz was appointed by Speaker Robert Rivas to take the helm of the Assembly Public Safety Committee. As Chair, he has set the course for the committee to focus on increasing safety for all communities in California and building a more equitable criminal justice system. He also serves as a member of the Assembly Committees on Budget, Natural Resources, Utilities and Energy and the Budget Subcommittee #6 on Public Safety. Schultz is also the Policy Chair of the Progressive Legislative Caucus. Previously, he served on the Burbank City Council as a Mayor and Councilmember.
ABOUT CA GOVERNOR’S RACE
A February 2026 poll from the highly regarded polling firm EMC Research showed that Swalwell is the Democratic frontrunner for Governor. He continues to gain support from likely voters in the June 2 primary and leads Congresswoman Katie Porter and the other Democratic candidates.
Swalwell continues to gain support from elected officials, including U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) serves as the Campaign Chair, and Reps. Nanette Barragan, Adam Gray, Doris Matsui, Kevin Mullin, Jimmy Panetta, Dr. Raul Ruiz and Mike Thompson, have endorsed Swalwell — in addition to local elected officials across the state.
Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.
Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat and a wide open race. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.
