REP. SWALWELL STATEMENT ON CADEM 2026 CONVENTION VOTE

Congressman Eric Swalwell Finishes First With CADEM Delegates

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Today, California’s leading Democratic candidate for governor, Congressman Eric Swalwell, released the following statement about the results of the CADEM 2026 Convention vote.

“I want to thank the California Democratic Party delegates for backing me to be California’s fighter and protector of working families. Together, we'll defend all Californians against Donald Trump and lower every family's costs.  I look forward to uniting our party and leading us to victories across the state in November.”

ABOUT CA GOVERNOR’S RACE

A February 2026 poll from the highly regarded polling firm EMC Research showed that Swalwell is the Democratic frontrunner for Governor. He continues to gain support from likely voters in the June 2 primary and leads all Democratic candidates.

Swalwell continues to gain support from elected officials, including U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-34) serves as Campaign Chair and Rep. Adam Gray (D-13) is Campaign Co-Chair. Reps. Nanette Barragan, Doris Matsui, Kevin Mullin, Jimmy Panetta, Dr. Raul Ruiz and Mike Thompson, have endorsed Swalwell — in addition to local elected officials across the state.

Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.

Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat and a wide open race. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.
